A gargantuan indoor-outdoor\u00a0combination water park\u00a0\u2013\u00a0the size of five football fields\u00a0\u2013\u00a0has opened in Germany<\/a>‘s\u00a0Black Forest.<\/p>\n

Located in the town of Rust, near\u00a0the Germany-France border, is Rulantica:\u00a0a Nordic-themed water park headed by the same people who own nearby\u00a0Europa-Park\u00a0(Germany’s largest theme park). Just like its massive theme park neighbour, Rulantica is packed with\u00a0adventures\u00a0for people of all ages, though rather the wet and wild variety.<\/p>\n

The \u20ac180 million complex opened at the end of November and will welcome\u00a0guests year-round thanks to its permanent 32C (89F)\u00a0indoor temperatures and all-weather facilities. Inside there are 25 attractions. Seventeen of those are water slides, each more elaborate and dare-devilish than the last. Dugdrob and Vildf\u00e5l are possibly the most thrilling; sending riders on almost-vertical,\u00a0free-fall drop\u00a0through neon-lit chutes. Another adrenaline-inducing ride is Vinter Ryt, a steep-wall slide\u00a0that sends up to four people down a vertical wall in one tube.<\/p>\n

Attractions are set across Scandinavian-themed landscapes\u00a0and sceneries that depict ancient\u00a0Norse legends. Trolls, mermaids and water sprites guard an area with gentler slides and pools aimed at younger children. Amid all the colourful displays\u00a0are spaces\u00a0to relax\u00a0for those who’d rather settle in\u00a0with a book instead of a splash. Deckchairs, loungers and private booths with sofas (available at an extra cost) are spread out across the indoor area. While\u00a0outside there are sun loungers and a heated swimming pool.\u00a0Visitors can even swim to\u00a0the Skogbar bar and\u00a0enjoy a cocktail<\/a>\u00a0without having to get out of the 30c (86F) water.<\/p>\n

Rulantica is open year-round (apart from Christmas Eve) from 10am until 10pm, though hotel guests can access the park from 9am.\u00a0Basel\u00a0Europa Airport\u00a0is located an hour south, while the airport at\u00a0Stuttgart\u00a0is two hours\u00a0away.<\/p>\n
