It’s easy to see why Sydney Harbour is regarded as one of the most beautiful natural harbours in the world.<\/p>\n

Sydney Harbour is an aquatic playground for Sydneysiders, with more than 240 kilometres (150 miles) of shoreline, punctuated by unspoiled beaches, picturesque gardens and pockets of natural bush. It is also home to some of Australia’s big-name attractions, including the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge. Read on and explore.<\/p>\n

A delight to explore, Sydney Harbour is one of the most beautiful natural harbours in the world. The sparkling blue waters, iconic attractions, hidden beaches, enchanting bushland, pretty gardens, charming islands and intriguing heritage are all easy to enjoy in an enticing range of experiences.<\/p>\n

Hop on a ferry at\u00a0Circular Quay<\/a>\u00a0and glide past the\u00a0Sydney Opera House<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0Sydney Harbour Bridge<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0Taronga Zoo<\/a>. There are all kinds of\u00a0harbour cruises<\/a>, including lunch cruises, tall ships and an Aboriginal cultural heritage cruise.\u00a0Boating<\/a>\u00a0is popular too, with sails dotting the deep blue waters.<\/p>\n

Walking is great way to see the harbour, which is also known as Port Jackson. You\u2019ll find various\u00a0walks<\/a>\u00a0with superb views of Sydney\u2019s famous landmarks. One of the best city walks in the world is from\u00a0Woolloomooloo<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0Barangaroo<\/a>, stopping at Mrs Macquaries Point for a perfect postcard selfie.<\/p>\n

The harbour is teeming with wildlife with big-belly seahorses and hundreds of other fish species inhabit the waters. Take a ferry to\u00a0Manly<\/a>\u00a0and spot little penguins near the wharf. Pockets of bushland are home to colourful birds, such as rainbow lorikeets and crimson rosellas.<\/p>\n

For a bird\u2019s-eye view, you can climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge with\u00a0BridgeClimb<\/a>\u00a0or fly in a seaplane from\u00a0Rose Bay<\/a>. The splendour of the harbour is breathtaking. The\u00a0Sydney Harbour National Park\u00a0<\/a>includes The Heads, the dramatic sandstone cliffs at the entrance, and many of the\u00a0harbour islands<\/a>.<\/p>\n

You can take a ferry to\u00a0Cockatoo Island<\/a>, one of the UNESCO World Heritage Australian convict sites.\u00a0Fort Denison\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0sandstone Martello Tower is the only one of its kind in Australia. On Garden Island is the\u00a0Royal Australian Navy Heritage Centre<\/a>, a museum, and\u00a0Shark Island<\/a>\u00a0is a lovely spot for a picnic.<\/p>\n

The harbour is also a famous world stage. The\u00a0Sydney New Year\u2019s Eve fireworks<\/a>\u00a0are a dazzling celebration, lighting up the skies and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The\u00a0Vivid Sydney<\/a>\u00a0festival illuminates harbour icons in May and June, and the thrilling start to\u00a0Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race<\/a>\u00a0is on\u00a0Boxing Day<\/a>.<\/p>\n
